Every value in life must be paid for. It is not designed to give us what we want or what we need. It is designed to give us what we deserve. None of us are entitled to an Art career. None of us are entitled to sell our Art work. You get in life what you pay for, an Art career is earned, you must do the time to earn your place in the Art line. You must work hard on creating your original Art. You must work hard on your sales and marketing. You must work hard on your personal development. Success is looking for those who deserve it.

I have a scrub turkey that comes to my door every afternoon for broken crackers. I it looked up on the internet to learn what was the best food to feed scrub turkeys, they had a number of suggestions so I got three of them. I put the first one out and the scrub turkey took one peck and walked away. I did the same with the next two suggestions and I got the same result, one peck and it walked away. The next day I put out broken crackers again and the turkey ate them all up. I learned a great life lesson, the scrub turkey knew what it wanted, it didn’t want what I wanted for it. And so with people the only way to influence other people is to talk about what they want, not what I want for them. Find out what a person wants and then show them how to get it. Now we can apply this to ourselves, find out what we really want and then learn whatever skills we need to accomplish it. Value is created when we produce a product to be sold in the market place. We bring value to the Art market place when we produce our original Art work. Value comes when we creat e original Art work, put a price on it and put it into the market to be sold and collect ed , value created. We are valuable to the Art market when we contribute our ideas and creations to the greater body of people. We are valuable because we create, we take what doesn’t exist and bring it into reality, this is valu e creation . Many Artists underestimate how valuable their contribution to the Art scene is, t hey do not realize  that they are what makes the Art scene so vibrant and exciting and losing one Artists voice makes us all a little bit poorer. Talking about selling, doesn’t produce sales. Reading about selling, doesn’t produce sales. Thinking about sales, doesn’t produce sales. Talking, reading and thinking about sales is good but we must do, we must talk to strangers and put into action what we have learned. Learn to sell by doing what we have learned. Strangers are only strangers until we speak to them, then they are no longer strangers. Approach them with a friendly smile and courteous words and they will respond in kind with a friendly smile and nice words. Remember they are at the Art show so we know they like Art, so just be friendly and get them to like you. If they like you there is a good chance they will like your Art.
