A new day.


It’s a another new day and the thief might have been defeated yesterday but it is back again to sow doubt again today.

That’s what I love about Art, the constant daily struggle, the sense of a life and death struggle with the thief, the scary, that’s what makes an Artist, knowing every day if you want to make great Art and that you will need to fight to win today and then again the next day and the next day and the next, this is what it takes to accomplish great Art and to be surprised every day at what you create.

The thief is tenacious and will not stop, yes you can defeat it today, but it will be back again tomorrow.

If you eventually do give into the thief, yes you will still paint but it will become repetitive and average and you will wonder where the thrill has gone.

It is in the daily battle with the scary, the thief, that great bodies of work are created, not in the common, average and mediocre.

To be an Artist you will need to prepare each day for the battle with the enemy within, defeat it today and create beautiful original Artwork.

Tomorrow is a new day, another day to overcome the thief and be surprised at what you have created.

Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth?

                                               Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth? I keep reading on an artists group pages again and again the same old question, “ I cannot sell my art for what it is really worth?” This is always a question raging in the art world, sort of the never ending question. Every artist has an opinion about this and it sometimes sounds like whining and of coarse they do not want to hear any opinions that differ from the fact, that their art is worth far more than they can sell it for. Your weakest skill, sets the height of your success. If you don't know your best skill, you had better find out your weakest skill, because its the weakest skill that holds you back. As Artists we so often coast along depending on our strongest skills to get us through, never realising that it is the weakest skills that hurt us the most. Now I have learned what not to do, because as an Artist I never did this but after years in Galleries I wish I had, it was a weak skill that determined the height of my success.
