Chapter 8. Saturday.

Sam and Chloe were having breakfast when a visitor arrived and Jenny came in and spoke to Chloe in Korean, Chloe excused herself and went into the lounge room.

Some time later Sam heard a man yelling in Korean, he sounded quite threatening, Sam thought that Chloe was in danger, she jumped up and ran into the lounge room.

Chloe was sitting on the lounge bowed over, crying, her hands covering her face and a tall man standing over her, yelling at her.

Sam yelled out. “Stop, and get away from her.”

The man spun around with anger in his eyes and said, “What, who are you? Are you going to stop me?”

“Yes, if I have to.”

“If you don’t leave I will come and make you leave.”

“You can try, but I am not leaving and get away from my Chloe.”

The mans anger rose to boiling point and he started walking quickly towards Sam.

He lunged, hand raised in anger.

Sam pivoted, with a spinning kick, driving her heal into his sternum. The air was forced out of his lungs.

He collapsed onto his knees, grasping for air, his face quickly getting a purple tinge, he kept grasping and gasping for air except none was coming.

Slowly he was able to begin to take short breaths, the pain in his chest was agonising.

Chloe ran to Sam and hugged her tightly, Sam looked at the man and said. “If you ever yell at Chloe again I will put you in hospital, I hate it when men like you think you can intimidate women, you are just a coward.”

The man slowly stood up gripping his chest in pain, Sam said. “That’s what a heart attack feels like, now go before I get really angry.”

The man bowed his head and walked to the door, Jenny shut the door after him and came back into the lounge room, Chloe was still hugging Sam and crying.

Sam said. “Come and lets sit down, he won’t come back if he knows I am here,”

They sat on the lounge and Chloe kept hugging Sam.

Sam looked at Jenny and said. “Who was that?”

“You don’t know do you, that was Tee, the lead singer for one of the biggest K-POP boy band in South Korea, the look on his face was priceless, he is a bully and he used to go out with Miss Chloe many years ago, unfortunately he comes over once ever couple of years to try and get back with her, she always say no, he gets very angry, as no one says no to Tee.”

Chloe let go of Sam and said. “Thank you Sammy for fighting for me, no one has ever done that for me before, where did you learn to do that?”

“My dad made me do karate from a little girl, he wanted me to be able to protect myself, I have never stopped training, it’s great exercise and I love doing it.”

Chloe said. “Why did you come out?”

“I heard him yelling and I thought you were in danger, so I came to protect you, I was very worried about you.”

“Really Sammy?” Sam nodded.

Chloe looked into Sam’s eyes and said. “Sammy, why did you say, get away from my Chloe?”

Sam shrugged her shoulders and felt embarrassed and said. “I didn’t realise I said that.”

Chloe put her arms around Sam and kissed her on the cheek.

Sam did not know how to respond or why she was feeling so protective and said. “Tee is lucky, as I am not as strong as I normally am, I would have hurt him a lot more, if I hadn’t been sick.”

Chloe took Sam’s arm and said. “I think that is the first time anyone would have done that to Tee, he will be so embarrassed, he will hope I don’t tell everyone, that a little girl beat him up, what a scandal that would be.”

Jenny said. “Miss, I don’t think he will be back ever again and all the other scandals will also go away.”

Christmas eve.

Sam and Chloe were sitting on the couch talking about the K-POP industry and all the intrigues that are so much a part of it, Chloe wanted to assure Sam that she was not part of it, after the incident with Tee.

“Sammy, you may hear things in the future, I really want you to know that I have not been dating for over four years, I am linked to a member of a boy band, because I go to special openings with him and that is because of SDA, they are promotions that we have to go to, the media have linked him to me in a romantic way, he is gay and I am good friends with him and his partner.”

Feeling a little awkward Sam said. “Chloe, you can date if you want to, we are just close friends.”

Chloe thought for a few moments and said. “You are very special to me Sammy, I don’t want to date people, I would rather just be with you.”

Sam looked at Chloe and said. “Let’s not talk about this right now, there is something I want to talk about.”

“Whats that?”

“I don’t have a Christmas present for you after all you have done for me, it makes me feel sad.”

“Sammy, you don’t have to buy me gifts, just your being here with me is the best Christmas present I could have.”

“I wanted to buy you something.”

Chloe stood up and said. “Come with me.”

Sam stood up and Chloe took her hand and they walked into the formal dinning room, beside the post at the front was a door that Sam had not seen before, with a key pad on it, Chloe taped in the code, the door unlocked. she opened it and she and Sam went into a big room.

Chloe switched on the light, the room was full of open cupboards and stacked on them were boxes of perfume, t-shirts, singlets, lots of Ever Love merchandise, numerous bags and racks with dresses hanging on them and lots of hoodies hanging as well.

Sam stood there and was amazed at what she beheld, she slowly walked around and touched the dresses, they were as soft as silk, she picked up the different perfumes and smelt them, so much stuff in here.

Sam walked back to Chloe and Chloe said. “See all this stuff, it is given to me, perfumes, bags, dresses and much more, Sammy I don’t need any stuff, I just need you.”

Sam looked at Chloe when she said that, she didn’t know how to answer her and said. “I didn’t realise you had all this stuff, what will you do with it all?”

“Well, when we go to Australia, so I can meet your mum, I will take some gifts for her, there are lots of other goodies here, if you want something Sammy you can have it.”

“Are we going to Australia to see my mum?”

“Yes, I was going to surprise you, we are going to be there on New Years Eve and stay for three days.”

“Are you serious?”

“Yes, Jenny has made all the arrangements, I was going to tell you tomorrow for your Christmas present.”

Jenny walked into the room and said. “Ma'am, those arrangements are confirmed.”

“Thank you Jenny, I just told her.”

“Oh, ok, then the flights are confirmed, we are staying at the Park Majestic, where we stayed last time, I have hired a security detail of three plus a driver and a van, is there anything else?”

“No Jenny, thank you.”

“The Park Majestic?”

“Why Sammy, you don’t like it?”

“It is one of the most expensive hotels in Sydney.”

“Is it? I have no idea, Jenny just books it and pays, I never know what the cost is.”

Sam looked at her and said. “Let’s go back into the lounge room and have a talk, I am a little confused.”

As they walked Sam’s head was spinning, she took Chloe’s hand said. “Chloe, I know it’s none of my business, do you have a lot of money?”

“I am comfortable, money is not a problem, I just want to please you.”

“Yes, I am overjoyed to be seeing my mum for New Year, why can’t we stay with her?”

Chloe remembered the crowds and being surrounded by them and the fear she felt.

“No, no, it would not be safe, because if word got out that I was there, people would come from everywhere, you saw the crowds at the concert, best we stay at the hotel and nobody knows we are in Sydney.”

“How do you do that, people will recognise you?”

They heard footsteps coming up the stairs and Chloe said. “Jenny come and explain our security to Sammy.”

Jenny sat down. “As much as we possibly can, we do not want it known that Miss Chloe is in Sydney, so we will fly to Brisbane, then go to the private airport and take a private jet to Sydney, that way we sneak into Sydney and nobody will know we are there, if we are seen in Brisbane the media will think we are hiding somewhere, probably on the Gold Coast, also you remember how Miss Chloe dressed when she used to visit you in the country, baseball cap, mask and sunglasses, that’s your world now and how the three of us will dress when we travel, any questions?”

“What about my mum?”

“She will be fine, if it becomes a problem she can come and visit you at the hotel, I will arrange that, she will not know who Miss Chloe is, so she won’t tell anybody, you must contact your two nieces to come to the hotel on the afternoon of the last day so they can meet Miss Chloe and take some selfies with her, we will give them a whole lot of Ever Love merchandise.”

“Why the last day?”

“They will post their selfies on their social media, so now people know we are in Sydney, by that time the three of us will be heading to the airport to fly back to Korea.”

“Is this how you always travel?”

“Most of the time, if we fly private we don’t use the disguise, you will get used to it, most of the time I don’t think it is necessary, because nobody expects us to be there, yet, we must always be safe because Ever Love gets lots of threats.”

A maid walked into the room and said. “Ma'am lunch is served.”

Jenny turned to Chloe and said. “The van is back and unloaded, so I will go into the mall and get the pyjamas you want.”

“Ok, let me know when you are back, lets eat Sammy.”

It was late in the afternoon and Sam was sitting on the lounge reading, she looked out the big windows and shivered as she saw it was still snowing, she remembered how cold she had felt in her stone house, she looked back down at her book.

Some time later Chloe came up the steps from the garage and said. “Sammy, I have a surprise for you, come with me.”

Sam got out of the chair and went downstairs with Chloe, when they entered the dance studio Chloe said. “Sammy, close your eyes and don’t open them.”

Chloe took Sam’s hand and led her over to the studio door, they went inside and Chloe said. “Open your eyes.”

Sam opened her eyes and was shocked to see all her studio, the four easels standing away from each wall, all her equipment was on the table, her paintings had come from her country studio and tears began to run down her face, Chloe came over to her and hugged her and said. “Are you happy Sammy, you can work again.”

“Thank you, this is the best Christmas present ever.”

“I am glad you are happy and smiling sweetheart,” as she wiped away Sam’s tears with her fingers, she kissed her, “and I have also found my Christmas present.”

“Where, what is it?”

Chloe went over to the table and picked up one of the small paintings, it was only 16cm x 16cm, it was in shades of pink and she said. “This is so beautiful, I have been looking at it and it makes me feel warm inside, I just love it.”

Chloe held it up and slowly ran her finger over the textured surface.

“Of course you can have it, those small ones are beautiful.”

“You are so talented Sammy and when the girls come back I will show them all your wonderful paintings, are you happy Sammy?”

“Yes, very happy indeed, thank you.”

Sam walked over to Chloe and hugged her and breathed in her aroma, she smelt delicious and she said. “Thank you my Chloe.” And Chloe kissed her again.

They both sat on the lounge, Sam hugged Chloe again and said. “Chloe we are becoming very close, I always want to be around you, what is happening?”

“We are very close now, I care about you a lot, lets just see where it goes, we have Christmas tomorrow and I am so happy to be spending it with you my love.”

Chloe kissed Sam, they continue to hug and kiss on the lounge.
