Artist, it takes self discipline

One of the great lessons of life that I have learned the hard way is not to rely on other people to much.
As much as you possibly can, try to rely only on yourself, because when you learn to rely only on yourself you can never complain and never have to explain.

Self discipline says, “If it is it be, then its up to me.”
And how true this is for the practising Artist, no painting gets painted unless you paint it.
No work gets done unless you do it.
The most productive Artists I know are the ones who just do it.
Every day they go to the studio and paint, whether they feel like painting or not, they just paint.

Unfortunately many go to the studio to paint and then find many reasons not to paint and another day goes by with no production, yes the studio is clean now, but no new paintings.
They lack self discipline, it is easier to let go, than to get up and do it.
Many wait for inspiration and it seldom comes.
They know they should paint.
They know they could paint.
But so many don't, isn't that interesting?
What is needed is perspiration and the inspiration will take care of it self.

Someone said to me that it must be easy for me to sit down and write something every day?
I said “ No, it is not easy, it would be very easy not to do it, but I do it for me and I make myself do it no matter how I feel and I come in two hours early to make sure I get it done and answer all my emails before the Gallery opens.”
Its not easy to work hard, it takes self discipline, because I know I can be a lazy person and I need to drive myself, that way I can never complain about working hard and long hours and I do not ever have to explain why I didn't do it to anyone.
Also it is really good if you love what you do and I am a fortunate man as I do love what I do and it does not feel like hard work, but it is there to be done every single day.

Yes it is easy not to do it, but it is more profitable to do it.
How true this is for the practicing Artist, no painting gets painted unless you paint it.

I hope you have a productive day.
