So what makes the difference?

I had this conversation the other night and I said, “It’s not the paintings that make the difference it’s the Artist themselves.”
The person I was talking to was a little taken aback by my statement.
Most paintings by most Artists are good.
Most paintings by most Artists are of a reasonable standard, so what makes the difference for most Artists?
Yes we have the talented genius who can get away with most things but for most Artists who paint most of the paintings what sets one apart from the rest?
The answer is the Artist themselves.
Talent and competence are important but I think being a polite, friendly Artist who can talk to strangers with confidence will win every time over a talented Artist who wants to be the brooding, pouting, misunderstood artist.
Every Artist should work hard on their personality to become a better person and improve their lives.
Self improvement is fundamental to your success.
The one thing that holds people back is fear, the thief.
The thief does not like change and it will tell you anything to stop you from changing.
The thief will say things like, “you are ok the way you are, no need to change.
That inner voice says, if they don’t to accept me the way I am, then take me or leave me.
Why should I change, I am doing ok?
It’s no ones business but mine, this is the way I am.”
The thief does not want you to do anything that would bring pressure and change into your life, it wants the next 10 years to be just like the last 10 years and if that’s what you want then don’t change.
If you want the next 10 years to be the best 10 years of your life then you will have to change.
Just work on those little bad habits that you know you have, a little self discipline makes such a difference.
Just little changes brings big change years down the road of life.
If you know you are shy and you have trouble talking to strangers or making a speech, work on that and fix that, do a course, read books, practice giving a speech in front of a mirror.
You will be surprised how you can overcome the thief and learn to speak in public, it’s just a skill to learn.
What makes the difference among Artists is the Artist themselves, of course their work must be of a high standard but if everything is equal with the paintings then the Artist makes the difference.
Make a difference to your Art career, work as hard on you as you do on your Art, if you become a better person, then your world will become a better place and you will be a better Artist.
Improve me, improve my Art.
