Connecting to people.


The new marketing on the internet is the Artist connecting to people, then those people talking and sharing what they have heard about the Artist with others, through this connection we are building relationships and turning them into friendships.
The same business principles still apply on the internet, supply and demand, but the selling process is totally changing.
We are not selling to everyone but to those who want to become part of our group, those who want to know us and connect with us.
Quality, value and honesty are the new social truth, if these values are found in your work and you persist for a period of time, people will trust you and talk about you and buy your Art from you, but it will take time and patience.
People need to know that you love your work, if you want them to love it as well and it is through that trust and relationship that the sale of our specialty items, paintings comes from.
Not everybody will like your paintings or buy them, so concentrate your efforts on those who have shown interest in having a relationship and work with them.
It will be connecting with strangers, building trust and friendship and word of mouth, that will turn into sales.
People need to be talking about you, so put stuff out there that they can talk about, story tell your Art, write a studio blog, start to do short videos of your Art practice, this is what people are interested in, they want to know you the Artist and your work.
The big difference in this new age is that the customer has a voice and wants to be heard, they want connection and they have an opinion and we must recognize that and allow an exchange of ideas to be part of the relationship.
We also need to be generous in this new normal that we find ourselves in, giving is part of the relationship, I am not talking about giving away free paintings but giving of ourselves in the relationship, answering all emails and PM's from those who are part of our group or followers and contributing something worth while back to them and it is hard work and time consuming work.
There is value in saying “thank you,” answering a follower with a “have a nice day” or putting time into answering their questions, all this builds relationship and as you give to these followers they will talk more about you and you want to be talked about.
When you meet these followers in person be friendly because if they are part of your group they already see themselves as your friend, it is very important to grasp this and act on it have a big smile and a warm welcome, they are your group.
We are now connecting with people and building relationships which will develop into long term relationships and through that trust in the relationship sales will come, we are marketing to those who want us to market to them.
