“Go to the ant”, to learn valuable lessons.

Ants use all the resources that they have at hand and do all they can to utilize them to the maximum.

As Artists are we using all the resources at hand to make our Art business successful or we are ignoring available resources because they seem hard to get or use.

Now I am not talking about Art equipment or Art supplies, most Artists always have enough of that, its the other resources that we often do not think about especially regarding the business side of our craft.

Book keeping, that is recording of all accounts and purchases for your Art business, this is often neglected and usually for one of two reasons.

Just lazy and don't want to do it, or because you don't know how to do it as it was not taught in Art school and no one told you, you would need it.

Learn about bookkeeping, this is all available for you to learn free on the Internet, go to the University of Youtube and learn all you need for free.

Also learn how to catalog your work, so that future authenticity of your work will not not be held to ransom by family members.

Record all works with a file number and photo with you and the work, Picasso cataloged all his work, you must do the same.

There are lots of free resources on cataloging on the internet, use them to your advantage.

Most important learn how to control your spending, so many people say that they do not know where their money goes, so keep records of your spending so you know where all the money goes.

Once you know what happens to your money and how you spend it you can then take control and make sure you mange your money wisely.

It means understanding the freedom that money can give you, and the power money can give you to help others.

I watch poor people throw small coins away because they perceive that the coins have no value but I will always pick up a small coin off the street, it's not about needing that particular coin, it's about recognizing the value all money has and what it can achieve and having respect for money. Remembering also that I too need to be concerned about money and respect it.

Use the resources you have at hand to improve you Art business.

Learn how to handle your money.

Learn to keep records of your spending.

Learn these skills, its not hard to do but it takes discipline.
