Remember who you painted it for.
Criticism can really sting and hurt and if someone is standing in front of you and saying hard things about your paintings, there is little you can do other than smile and thank them for the interest they have shown in your work and hope they leave quickly.
How do you personally cope with that?
It is not easy I know, but it gets easier when you take the attitude that your work is not for them and you need to say it out loud to yourself,
“ I did not paint it for them, I painted it for my followers, the people who appreciate me.”
Very import that you reinforce that positive affirmation every time and after a while criticism will have less bite.
The sting of criticism will never totally go away but you can minimize the hurt and respond positively to yourself,
“I did not paint it for them.”
