Improvement is the goal.

Focused thinking:- The goal is always to improve.
I often hear from Artists after they have created something wonderful say that they wish they could repeat the process again, but they don’t know how they did it.
True mastery of your craft is being able to create something, understand the process and repeat it, continually improving each time on that procedure.
A masterpiece is a step by step process, not a one-off miracle.
Whatever you do you leave a trail so that you can go back and follow it and do it the same way again, improving on your success.
How do we do that?
One principle that many Artists do not employ is writing down the steps of how you did it, because if you understand what you have done you can write it down, so simple yet so few apply it.
You might say that you believe in the miracle of the accident, but what happens it just becomes just a bad accident?
Write down what you do and how you do it, understand the process of what you do, so you are able to do it again and improve on the process.
Keep a record of your process in your journal, write it down, understand what you have done, step by step and why you did it, do not trust it to your memory.
It will encourage you in difficult, dry times and you will able to repeat your process, to get you started again and through that dry period.
If you do not understand the process, you will continually be going back trying to do the same thing over and over again without improvement.
Focused thinking allows you to understand the process, so you can repeat and improve on that process.
The goal is always improvement.
