The story I tell myself.

When you have a business and you need to get your employees to do the work you want them to do, the question is, “ How can I make this person want to do it?”
Now that is the only way we will get the best out of people by them wanting to do it.
Now when it comes to us personally I know that there are things I should do, I could do but I don’t do it, why is that?
Because of the story I tell myself.
For myself and many Artists what we do is we argue for our limitations and when we do, we get to keep them.
Many Artists don’t want to learn to sell and market their work, so they say that their paintings sell themselves?
That’s the story they tell themselves and it is not true and is arguing for their limitations and they never learn to sell because of the story they tell themselves.
Many Artists do not learn new skills when it would help their Art business enormously, but they say “ No, I cannot learn to do that.” and they are right because of the story they are telling themselves.
I tell some Artists that they need to make some personal changes and they say “ No, I am not like that, this who I am,” yet if they made the personal changes it would help them so much in their personal relationships with buyers, but they cannot because of the story they tell themselves.
I encourage Artists to walk up and talk to strangers at their Art shows, but many say they are to shy to talk to strangers. Yet we can all learn the skills needed to talk to strangers but they never will because of the story they are telling themselves.
How do I make me want to do it?
The simple question you need to ask yourself is “ can you?”
Can you learn a new skill ?”
Can you learn to be different?”
Can you learn to talk to strangers?”
Of course the answer is, “Yes you can.”
You can learn new skills, you just need to change the story you are telling yourself from “I cannot” to “I can,” from “I don’t” to “I can.”
You can learn more.
You can make personal changes.
You can talk to strangers.
You can create more.
You can love more.
You can give more.
You can always go to the next level, if you want to.
The story we tell ourselves can limit us and our Art career, change the story to “I can.”
