Whats that painting all about?

Artists who do not wish to story tell their Art, should not story tell their Art but I do believe they are doing themselves a disservice.
You see in every area of our lives we story tell.
Have you ever sat down with a group of Artists and listened to the tall stories that they all tell?
Yet when it comes to their Art they are incapable of saying anything about why they created their work?
I have run Galleries and the majority of people who buy paintings always ask, “ What is this painting all about?”
People like to know what the Artist was thinking, why the Artist painted this way, lots of questions and the Artist who can best story tell their paintings sells well.
I am not asking Artists to write novels about their paintings, just a few lines that best describes the “why” of their paintings.
The Gallery staff who are trying to sell the paintings are at a disadvantage if the Artist has not told them what their paintings are all about.
Artists with a little effort and using that wonderful creative talent that all you have it would not be hard to put down a few lines about each painting you do.
Also if you are keeping a journal then most of what you need is already written down, I would not go on about this subject if it was not important.
Outside of you artistic abilities, painting, drawing and being creative I believe that this is one of the three most import things an Artist must do.
Sell and market your work.
The ability to talk to strangers.
Story tell your Art.
Artists please, story tell your Art, you are helping yourself sell.
