The internet brings change.




Today Artists have the technology to promote themselves and sell their work in any country in the world without the need of a Gallery or dealer and they can cut out the middle man and not pay commissions and many think the old Gallery system can last?
More and more in the future collectors will go straight to the Artist and deal directly with them and not go through a Gallery and this will continue to grow and become the normal.
Some people want to keep the perfect of the past, the romance of the Gallery, they wanted to keep film in cameras as well and keep the record store but they are both a distant memory.
Art Galleries are going to have to evolve and innovate and embrace the new technology and change just as Artists are having to do so, they will become the place of the well known bankable Artist only and the unknown and emerging Artists will have to discover new ways to sell their Art through the internet.
With so much change going on in every industry, of course that change was going to impact on our industry and I believe it is one of the most exciting times to be an Artist and to be able to run your Art business free from the gatekeepers of the past.
The Art industry will continue to change, embrace it and learn all you can about the new technology because you are now selling into a Global market.

Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth?

                                               Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth? I keep reading on an artists group pages again and again the same old question, “ I cannot sell my art for what it is really worth?” This is always a question raging in the art world, sort of the never ending question. Every artist has an opinion about this and it sometimes sounds like whining and of coarse they do not want to hear any opinions that differ from the fact, that their art is worth far more than they can sell it for. Your weakest skill, sets the height of your success. If you don't know your best skill, you had better find out your weakest skill, because its the weakest skill that holds you back. As Artists we so often coast along depending on our strongest skills to get us through, never realising that it is the weakest skills that hurt us the most. Now I have learned what not to do, because as an Artist I never did this but after years in Galleries I wish I had, it was a weak skill that determined the height of my success.
