Words from a collector.

“We have so many accomplished painters out there but where are the Artists??”

There is so much Art out there now that is technically good, looks good, but lacks imagination, creative instinct and vision.
We seem to be condemned to just repeat the same old stuff continually, another landscape, another abstract that looks like every abstract that came before it, another portrait, another pet painting, another celebrity painting all well done but have already been done before.
We all remember Jackson Pollack but few even know about his brother Charles who was a painter and studied under Thomas Benton and painted like him until he moved into abstract painting later in life, he was unknown, a good painter but not the creative Artist his brother was, why was that?.
I long for the next Rothko, the next Newman, the next Picasso or the next Pollack who comes out of nowhere and challenges the very foundation of what we call Art and cause change and upheaval and challenges the very establishment of Art.
I applaud these men for what they did and I am ever watching for the next group of Artists who come along to challenge what we call Art and change the Art world forever.
If you are a painter, dig deep, do what no one has done before. There are no rules as to what is right or wrong. I am sure Pollock was not thinking, I am changing the way people see art forever, no he was just being an Artists getting way out there where no one hard dared to go.
He stopped worrying about will he be accepted, will people like this work, will people buy his work, he just painted what he felt and wanted to do and drip paintings were born.
It does not matter if you like his paintings or not, but they did change Art as we know it.
Artists are creative people who change society through there art, teaching us all to see with a new vision, a new sense of reality, to challenge us and shake our world and make us uncomfortable.
Artists bring change and of course no body wants change, the bulk of society doesn't ever truly want change, because change brings risk and risk brings fear. Give people a chance to avoid change, and they'll likely take it.
Dig deep, push away the fear and create work that will impact on society, the Art world is waiting.
