Concentrate on this.

Yesterday I wrote,
'The Art world will not give you what you want.
The Art world will not give you what you need.
The Art world will give you what you deserve.
It is no different than in life.
If you do not plant a seed you will not get a harvest no matter how much you want and need it.
The ones to get the harvest are those who deserve it, the planters, they deserve the harvest.
As with everything in life there is a cost for everything, there are no free lunches.
The next step to having long career in the Art Business is to concentrate on a few things.
Concentrate on the love of painting and painting only because of that and no other motives.
If you are painting to make your fortune, you picked the wrong profession. I believe most serious dedicated Artists can make a very good living from their Art, but will they all end up in the auctions and great museums, very few.
The love of painting and the need to paint must be your only driving force.
Your belief in your own ability must be resolute, even if everyone says you have no talent.
Do not look for reassurance from Facebook likes or from family and friends or the Art Market, you are painting because you are sure of your own talent and ability and what others think is not important.
What if Monet had listened to to the Art Market and his friends and family, we would have no beautiful Impressionist paintings today.
What if Pollock or Rothko or Gorky had listened to the critics, we would have been deprived of their wonderful paintings.
You must dance to the beat of your drum and you must bring change and that can only happen if you believe in yourself despite what everyone is saying.
You have to be a trail blazer, make your own map as you go do not follow the path well trod.
The reality is that it is a hard business, but if you concentrate on the love of painting and make that the great motivation of your career, then the rest will fall into place.
Picasso only heard on voice, his own, because he knew he was Picasso.
So tune out all the voices and only hear yours.
Get assurance from yourself not the market place, it is very fickle.
Validate your painting by the act of painting.
Believe in yourself resolutely.
Concentrate on your painting purely for the love of painting and you will bring change, to your own career and to the Art world
