Connect with people.
If
customers are given the choice between a lower price and an
indifference sales person, or something that matters and someone who
cares, they will most times choose the latter.
People
want to know that we care about them even if it is only for a short
period of time.
Never
before in our history have Artists had the ability to reach people
like they have today. The internet has made it so that we can connect
with people all over the world and tell our story to those who will
listen. Your Art market now is so much bigger than it has ever been
before and you can reach so many more people than you ever could
before, but unlike before when sales were not a connect but just a
transaction, now we need to connect with people on an emotional
level.
That's
why I tell Artists to write about their paintings, tell us why you do
what you do, because today we can connect on such an intimate level
we need to tell our story.
I
am not talking about our intimate personal details of your life but
our Artistic life.
The
world sees Artists as very romantic a very different lifestyle to
what they could ever imagine, while to the Artist it is just life,
sit back and see what you do, your life through the eyes of others
and you will see yourself differently.
That's
the story to tell to the people who are interested.
The
day of the lower price getting the customer will always be around as
long as sales people do not try and connect with their customers, but
Artist must approach it differently.
I
read where many Artists expect Galleries and dealers to make the
sales for them, that day has changed, the internet is slowly getting
rid of the middle man and the day will come where only high end
galleries will be commercially viable, because the internet allows
the Artist to connect directly with the buyer.
The
internet has changed the game as it did to the music industry, to the
video industry, the book industry and the phone industry, we live in
a new day, my friends it is time to connect emotionally with your
buyer, let them know that you care and they will in return care about
you.
Build
trust with your buyer, contribute to their lives, add value to your
paintings by telling the story about you, the Artist and about your
paintings.
This
a new day of connecting on a new level..
