Build Relationships.

If you live by the brush, then you are going to at some stage have to sell your Art.
If possible you can use Galleries, or get a dealer or use online galleries and other online platforms but at some point of time in your career you are going to have to stand in front of a stranger and sell your paintings to them.

This can be scary, because the thief will get involved.
So how do I get over the fear of the fear of selling?
Maybe you are having an exhibition very soon, everything is prepared, the Gallery is ready, now you have to get you ready for the opening night.
You have to approach this opening night knowing that you are going to have to talk to strangers and if you don’t want to talk to then it is not going to be great evening or a very pleasant experience for you or your guests.
So what you will need is to have the mind set that this is as a time of meeting people and getting to know them, not trying to sell to them.
You have to have the attitude that you are there to welcome strangers and make them feel comfortable.
Smile and introduce yourself to every person who attends your opening, knowing that they chose to attend your opening so help them enjoy the opening night experience of looking at and admiring your Art work.
You are building relationships with strangers tell them how much you love your work and what they mean to you and yes they are for sale.
You are there to talk about your work and help the stranger to understand what you the Artist are wanting to say.
You want to build a relationship between you and the stranger and hopefully a friendship will come out of it, you will exchange emails and phone numbers and you must show your appreciation that they have used some of their precious time to come and look at your Art work and support you.
If after you have talked with them and they know more about you the Artist and you have told them the story of your paintings and they love your paintings and they decide to buy your painting, of course then you can help them with their investment.
You see we have such a fearful view about selling, yes there are some pushy sales people who make you cringe but really great sales people build relationships and out of that comes a sale.
The stranger buying your painting wants to know you the Artist and your story, they want to know the story about your painting and why they should love your painting as much as you do, that’s what will bring on the sale and get your paintings onto the walls of strangers.
Selling is about building a friendly relationship with a stranger so they become a friend and a collector.
