Give yourself permission.

We are told when we were young growing up that we needed to conform, to be like everyone else, that we should not be different but to be one of the crowd. School taught us to conform to do as we were told, to not argue and the teacher was always right.
Yet in life we see that ones who are different, who don’t conform, who dare to make change, to challenge the status quo are the successful ones.
Look at Picasso, Pollock, Matisse, Dali and so many others who dared to be different and refused to conform.
Why were we told we must conform?
So we would be safe, be like everyone else, fashion trends came and went and we followed them, trained to respond as required.
Those who dared to not conform if they did not become famous, were shunned and pushed out and we were told they were eccentric and different and they were laughed at and mocked and we learned that it was not good to not conform.
Yet we know now that every successful person had to be prepared to walk against the crowd and not conform and bring change.
It is such a big contradiction?
We were taught to conform and obey, yet to be a successful Artist you will need to do the opposite, be different, be original and rebel against the status quo.
Why were we sold this lie by our parents and teachers, because they were sold the same lie also by the thief.
The thief wants us to conform, be like everyone else, be average, be invisible because it is safe there and the thief wants safe.
Today we do not need to conform.
We do not have to obey the thief, so be different and rebel.
Paint your paintings, your original Art work and if people criticise you tell them, “ I didn’t make it for you.”
Do not allow the crowd speak to stop you, rebel against the crowd and be your original self.
It is ok to give yourself permission to do this, nothing bad will happen to you except you will dare to bring change because change is needed for growth.
Rebel against the thief and be different.
No change, no growth.
