Be patient it takes time.

I am always saddened when I am contacted by Artists who want to give up and stop painting and get out of the Art community. Many contact me and ask for help, what will they do?
They have been painting for a number of years and just cannot make it.
Few sales come but not regular enough and it does become very difficult I know.
What can I say?
First of all do not blame yourself or the Art Business, it is what it is.
Blaming yourself will not achieve anything but self pity.
So first take a deep breath and exhale slowly and consider your options.
You cannot change the Art Business, but you can change you and your circumstances.
If you do not need to sell paintings to live, then don't sell any more, paint because you love to paint and give them all away, the best reason to paint.
So many Artists just do not comprehend what happens when you start to price your work.
People go from wonderful givers of their Art work to disappointed, bitter sellers of their work.
If you don't need to sell it don't, give it away.
If you need to sell, then learn how to sell, take a course on selling.
If you don't understand social media marketing, then take a course on marketing.
All these courses are available on YouTube and other places on the internet and most are for free and they will be a great help to you.
Then work on you and change you.
Work on your self talk and negative thinking, determine to be positive and see the positive in everything, it will take time but determination and discipline works.
Build your Art Business over years not months and apply all these things you are learning and start to paint again with a realistic view of what the market is really like and price your work accordingly.
Always be working on yourself and your attitudes and developer a great smile and a happy charming personality, no one responds well to the brooding Artist, especially buyers.
Set goals to where you want to be and what you want to achieve over the next few years and work to achieve each one of them, be patient it takes time.
And finally, be gentle on yourself, the Art business can be brutal, so be nice to you, care about you and love you so you are able to care for and love others.
