Excuses




Knowing is not enough,
we must be able to apply it.
Wishing is not enough,
we must do it.
How many times have I had the conversation with an Artist and they say, “ I know what I have to do, I just cannot bring myself to do it.”
How many promising Art careers have been stagnated by this fear of doing, what will people think, what will people say?
I had one person say they will leave it up to divine providence, if it is meant to be it will happen.
I responded, God told Moses to go to the promise land, but if Moses didn’t get up and go he would never have arrived there.
These are just excuses for inaction and giving into fear.
Wishing and hoping will not build a successful Art career.
If you know what to do, then apply yourself and do it.
Once you overcome the fear in one area it does not work in that area again.

Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth?

                                               Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth? I keep reading on an artists group pages again and again the same old question, “ I cannot sell my art for what it is really worth?” This is always a question raging in the art world, sort of the never ending question. Every artist has an opinion about this and it sometimes sounds like whining and of coarse they do not want to hear any opinions that differ from the fact, that their art is worth far more than they can sell it for. Your weakest skill, sets the height of your success. If you don't know your best skill, you had better find out your weakest skill, because its the weakest skill that holds you back. As Artists we so often coast along depending on our strongest skills to get us through, never realising that it is the weakest skills that hurt us the most. Now I have learned what not to do, because as an Artist I never did this but after years in Galleries I wish I had, it was a weak skill that determined the height of my success. Question, “From your last exhibition or showing, what was the worst part?” Now you cannot criticise anyone or anything, this is all about you.
