Because unique attracts attention.

In the book by Jeffery Deaver called “ The Vanished Man” these are the sentences which really jumped out at me,

“He did what everyone else did.

Because unique attracts attention.

Similar makes you invisible.”

Being invisible is very safe and feels secure and we all want to feel secure, unfortunately if we want to create attention and build a successful Art career, then safe is not the place to be.

We have been talking about being consistent in our work and our marketing especially on social media.

You not only have to be a good Artist now, you need to have that edge that makes you stand out from the crowd.

We live in a world with so many wonderful creative Artists and to get your original work out there so people will see it will require a lot of work.

It will take more than just talent to get you out in front of the pack,

being the best is not enough, you will need to be consistently the best, turning up before the others, working those extra hours when others are relaxing, putting more effort into your social media than the crowd. We live in a time where everyone has access to the net and everyone is posting on it, so your post will have to stand out and get attention so people will know you and talk about you or you will be invisible.

Now invisible is great if you are hiding but it is not great if you are trying to build an Art career in a crowded space.

Be innovative in creating your Facebook posts and videos and get attention.

Do not be hit and miss but be very deliberate in how to do it and when and do not let the thief or other people tell you you are doing to much, I have decide that doing to much is a goal I want to achieve, because then you will get noticed and that really is the currency of social media.

Being invisible is fine if that is what you want but getting attention and being unique is where the sales are.

If you put a price on your paintings, then sales are what you want, be unique not invisible.
