Water and fertilise.
From
today’s video I received a question, “ What do mean by pull out
the weeds in my life and water and fertilise my Art business?”
The
weeds of our lives are the little annoying bad habits that grow back
if are not watchful. We can deal with a bad habit like criticism but
if we are not watchful this habit can sneak back in like weeds do in
the garden after having been cleaned out.
We
are always vulnerable to bad old habits coming back, so once you have
dealt with them, keep a watchful eye that they do not try to come
back, because they will try.
Weeds
are sneaky and tenacious and some just won’t give up.
Be
watchful and practice small disciplines working at removing those
habits and attitudes that hold us back from the success we are
working hard for.
“Watering
and fertilising” your Art practice is making sure you are putting
nutrition into your business. Always wanting to learn, never miss an
opportunity to learn something new.
To
many Artists after they finish college think that they have learned
it all, no you just learned to do college, now you have to learn how
to survive and prosper in the Art world.
Surviving
and prospering in the Art business is done through learning all you
can about your craft and the business you are in.
I
have met Artist who have told me that they have done well and did not
have to study and learn new things, I said imagine what you could
have achieved beyond what you have now if only you had studied and
learned new skills.
Honestly
I cannot emphasise enough how much I encourage every Artist to learn
all you can about your craft, your Art business and the Art market.
It will help you so much and teach you to see things clearly.
You
will not see through the impaired wisdom of, “Well this what I
believe it should be like and I will just keep doing what I am
doing.”
The
more you learn the clearer you will understand how things really are
and gain the ability to navigate through the problems you encounter
in this business and use them to your advantage.
“Water
and fertilise” yourself and your Art practice with everyday
learning and become a life long learner.
You
will be amazed at the advantage you will have over those Artists who
are lazy in learning.
Get
wisdom and with all your getting, get understanding.
