Art is a calling.

Art chooses you and then you have learn to listen to the muse and not to all the negative voices within and without.
Art is a very jealous Mistress, she wants your attention always and requires everything from you and often gives little in return, but she demands your work be done for her with the strictest obedience, this a calling not a hobby.
If you are struggling with your Art, rejoice she requires that, she knows struggle builds endurance, if you always feel you are just inches away from a break through, rejoice that is how she stretches you.
If you are nagged with self doubt and fear, rejoice she wants you to overcome that and learn to go where there are no sign posts.
She is always there but just out of reach that is how she gets you out of your comfort zone forces you to go into new and dangerous places with your Art, she want you to be scared then she knows you are in an unsafe place, the place of miracles and magic, where original Art is created.
She will give all the desires of your heart but she will do it slowly because she is not interested in one painting being painted but in a whole lifetime of paintings being painted, that why she seduces you to follow her, so rejoice, she knows you have life long calling and paintings to be painted and she has your whole life to do it in.
Be patient we are Artists and we have no option but to pursue the muse, paint and create, true Art is a creative struggle each day allowing the quiet voice of the muse the freedom to inspire us and encourage us to work hard and not to be influenced by all the constant noise within and without.
So do not despair when things don’t go like you think they should, this is the Artist walk and they will be difficult days, but that is life and we need to take them in our stride knowing that it is not personal, remember it rains on the happy and the sad, so smile it is called living.
Rejoice the Mistress will calling it is time for you to paint, there is a calling to follow, a career to build and more importantly a lifetime of original paintings to be painted.

Please feel free to share.
