Something to consider.



Today as never before Artists are faced with so many wonderful opportunities that did not exist years ago. Artists today can do what ever they want, but you have to do it.
No one will invite you to take the initiative, you just need to take it.
No one will invite you to lead, you just need to do it.
As I have said in the past, you can now promote your art like never before and you can do it for free.
Let’s just talk about using Facebook to your advantage.
Approach Facebook like it is the front window of your gallery, so think about what you want people to see in your Gallery.
Facebook is a connection machine which allows us to reach out and touch others for free, so we need to use as such to our advantage.
Your Gallery can show videos of you working and creating Art, today so many are doing the time lapse videos and they look great, my only caution is they need sound, because people want to know what you are doing and why, this builds relationships.
You can show your paintings and tell the story of why you did it, what your inspiration was and allow people to become part of the process.
Potential buyers want to be part of what you are doing, part of the romance of the Artist, allow people in and connect with them. There is no need to hard sell, build connections and relationships, then the sales will follow in time.
There is no quick way to success, it all takes time and perseverance. Be the one who will go the distance, do not give up.
Ignore all the get rick quick ideas in selling your art, they do not work, the way to success as an Artist is determination, perseverance and hard work, always be on the job.
Talent will not do it for you it comes down being ahead of the pack and that takes work.
You will need to consider you Facebook page and how you want to present it, remember Facebook loves original organic material both videos and blogs and does not like outside links. Original work on Facebook gets a better push from Facebook.
Experiment with your page, build relationships and always be open to change.

Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth?

                                               Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth? I keep reading on an artists group pages again and again the same old question, “ I cannot sell my art for what it is really worth?” This is always a question raging in the art world, sort of the never ending question. “ I wish I had learned about this when I was trying to sell my paintings.

Your weakest skill, sets the height of your success. If you don't know your best skill, you had better find out your weakest skill, because its the weakest skill that holds you back. As Artists we so often coast along depending on our strongest skills to get us through, never realising that it is the weakest skills that hurt us the most.
