How can I get better known?

I get this question a lot lot from Artists, how can I get better known?
There is only one answer to that, simply, get peoples attention, tell people you exist.
If you want to be average that is fine and I understand, but if you want your Art to be recognized and sort after you must be different, not different crazy but different in getting your Art out there.
The only way to get attention is to be talked about.
I have been saying for so long now when you put a painting up on Facebook or in a group, don't just put up “title, medium and price,” tell the story of the painting,
Why did you paint it?
Why should I look at it?
Why is it important?
Why does it matter?
Why should I buy it?
I always get push back from Artists because I say story tell your paintings, but why do I say it?
Because so few do it and if you do it you will stand out from the crowd and get attention.
I know, I get told often, “your paintings speak for them selves,” honestly that is not true, paintings don't speak, people do and people want to know why you painted it, so please tell them.
Communicate why you paint and why you painted this or that particular painting, customers want to know.
It is really up to you to think about your paintings and what they mean to you and tell a story about them, you will be surprised at how the majority of people will respond to the story as well as the painting.

Get attention, get talked about.
Think about why you are putting the Painting up on Facebook, what are trying to achieve?
A like, a comment, a sale?
Write about your Art work.
Convince me why I should buy it?
There are so many Artists out there all trying to sell their paintings, its not just about talent and great paintings its about getting the attention of the strangers and selling them on you and your paintings.
The only way to win is to be talked about, get attention.
