It is not always about the now, invest forward.

Artists when you are having an exhibition or selling at an Art Fair or at a street market, please remember a few things about selling.

Simple steps that will help you to invest forward.

So often when salespeople deal with a customer they have the attitude of,

“what can I get from you?”

Instead of, “how can I be of help to you?”

Everyone wants to buy stuff, but nobody wants to be sold to.

So Artist, when you approach a customer with your friendly warm smile have the attitude of, “how can I be of help you.”

What can I do for you, that will make me a blessing to your life.

They will feel this attitude and see it in your face and body language.

I have said this before, once I have talked to a guest in the Gallery about a painting and I realize that they are not going to buy, I then try and find a way to add value to them and help them.

If it is near lunch time I will ask them if they are going eat near the Gallery and if they say yes, I will recommend some good restaurants near by, or I will tell them of some neat things to see and do around the area we are in.

I do this because I want to add value to the person and I want them to remember me as helpful and one day when they want to buy a painting they will remember that guy from that Gallery who was so helpful even though they did not buy anything.

Its investing forward, giving great service and value now, to reap the benefits of that in the future.

As you give you receive.

You can easily apply this to your Art Business, when you have an opening or selling at an Art Fair, be friendly and even if they don't buy, find some simple way to help them, so they remember you.

Find out what kind of Art they like and recommend another Artist you know who paints like they indicated.

Find out what they really want, give some tips about the different Art available at the Fair, even if they don't buy from you and it is your recommendation that they buy from another Artist, you have been instrumental in the sale and two groups of people have been blessed, investing forward in your life, as you give so you will you receive.

A warm genuine smile has great value, which people remember, add that to helping them and you bring joy to their lives and you will invest forward into your future, you have planted the seed it will grow.
