Don’t be invisible, get attention.

The reality is that it does not matter how marvellous your painting are, how many hours it took to paint them, whether it is oil or acrylic, or how much your work is worth, sadly if you are unknown then you will need to convince strangers that your work is good enough to buy from an unknown Artist.
Think about this, because I hear it all the time from Artists who have been painting one or two years and say how unfair it is that they do not sell and is it worth going on?
Once you can accept that reason you are not selling has nothing to do with your paintings you can then concentrate on what you have to do and that is to go from unknown to known.
That is the biggest hurdle you face because now you will have to deal with the fear as well.
If it was just about the quality of the painting then all Artists would be famous but it is not, first of all you have to get known by the people who will buy your Art, strangers.
You need put yourself and your Art in front of them. You will do that by using social media, Art shows, group and one person shows, being in competitions and showing at every opportunity that you can find. Even then you will be with many other Artists of similar talent and quality and price and somehow you are going to have to stand out.
You cannot be like all the rest, you must create attention and get people to look and “see” your work and you, that is not easy in a crowded show.
I know this sounds daunting but really it is not because 90% of the other Artists will be trying to hide, because their work speaks for itself.
So you must be the one Artist with the Artist pack to give out to everyone. If you make videos then have them showing in your booth or at the opening.
Be the Artist that walks up to everyone who comes to the show and introduces yourself and hands them an Artist pack and shows them your Art.
Be the smiling, friendliest person you can be and get the attention of the strangers.
Most strangers will respond well to you and be friendly as they came to the show to look at the Art and meet the Artists, they will just be amazed at an Artist who walks up to them and introduces themselves, because most hide and can hardly say more than yes or no when spoken to, so you will make a good impression and that is what counts.
If the strangers like you then they will most likely like your Art and that is the first step to get them buying.
If this was easy to do everyone would do it but it is not because first before you face the strangers you will have to deal with the fear, the “thief” and it will do all it can to stop you from the danger of success, as it wants safe, quiet and average, it wants you to be invisible and you need to get the attention of strangers, quite the opposite.
Deal with the thief, use it as your direction finder, if it says “Don’t” you say “Lets go”.
Get the attention of strangers, they are the ones who will buy your paintings.
