Opportunity?



Every Artist today can take the opportunity to do something remarkable.
Imagine today like never before in history, I can watch Artists talk about and make their Art from all over the world.
What an amazing marketing tool.
I can watch Kelly in Australia talk to me about her marvellous abstract paintings.
I can then watch Katrina in her video from San Antonio Texas, show me her process for her beautiful fabric art pieces.
I can the watch Amy live from Meriden, Connecticut teaching me about her resin paintings and how to do it.
I can then read Mike Barr’s blog from Adelaide in South Australia and learn new ideas from an amazing talented Artist.
Isn’t that remarkable, that we can interact because of the internet and every Artist has the opportunity to do so.
We can all make a video of our Art work.
We can all write a blog and talk about our Art work and practice.
We all have the opportunity to interact and build relationships with people all over the world, I think that is remarkable.
What an awesome way to get out Art out there and market and sell it to new people.

Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth?

                                               Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth? I keep reading on an artists group pages again and again the same old question, “ I cannot sell my art for what it is really worth?” This is always a question raging in the art world, sort of the never ending question. Every artist has an opinion about this and it sometimes sounds like whining and of coarse they do not want to hear any opinions that differ from the fact, that their art is worth far more than they can sell it for. Of coarse my opinion comes from my experience with Galleries and collectors and of coarse artists and you may not agree with me and that is fine and I hope I do not upset to many people but lets take a look at the reality of the situation. “ I wish I had learned about this when I was trying to sell my paintings.

Your weakest skill, sets the height of your success. If you don't know your best skill, you had better find out your weakest skill, because its the weakest skill that holds you back. As Artists we so often coast along depending on our strongest skills to get us through, never realising that it is the weakest skills that hurt us the most. Now I have learned what not to do, because as an Artist I never did this but after years in Galleries I wish I had, it was a weak skill that determined the height of my success.
