Being in the Art business.

No sales, no money, no Art, no life.
It a simple down hill slide and it does not matter if you use emotional labels on this statement or not.
I know that Art is from the heart and the inner creative self and that money is not the reason to make Art, I agree totally, but if your Art practice is how you pay your bills then the money side of it matters a lot.
If you put a price tag on your your Art then this is a major question that you must address.
Being in the Art business is more than just painting paintings in your studio, its also about running a small business, so this needs to be considered before you enter into the Art business.
In the beginning if you approach it as a small business you will have a better shot at your long term survival.
If you have been doing your Art for some time and trying to sell it, then you are well aware of how hard it can be to sell paintings.
Survival in the Art business depends on a lot of things including a little luck, a lot of determination, persistence and patience.
Always be original, no matter how much pressure you apply to yourself to copy someone popular who sells.
Be yourself, be original.
Next strengthen your weaknesses.
If you do not like to do bookwork, record keeping or cataloguing your work, which is very necessary in the Art business, just apply your self and do it or pay someone to do it.
My last thought, personal development, work on you so you can be the best Artist, that you can be.
Be an original Artist.
Treat your Art as a business.
Be the best Artist that you can be.
