Getting connection.


When we reach out to strangers to connect with them a few points to think about.
Tell the truth.
You want people to like you for who you are so there is no need to exaggerate or for self-praise, because if you do and they connect with you, they probably will see through the exaggeration and boasting and they will most likely disconnect from you.
Be straight and honest, let them see the real you.

Tell your story.
People attach themselves to stories and people love the romance of the Artistic life, so tell your Artistic story to them because your life is different to their life, you are an Artist.
Allow them to be romanced by your story but you cannot be you must be down to earth and understand clearly that Art is work and they are your customers.
You have no time to be romanced by your own Artistic life but you always have time to tell your Artistic story.

Don’t conform.
Be different and do different.
There are no rules so innovate, take risks and get attention you will be amazed at what doors will open to you and the people you will meet and connect with.
Be passionate and enthusiastic about your Art work.
Passion and enthusiasm are contagious like the measles, spread them around and infect as many as you can.
Be the Artist you dream of being, work hard, tell your story and connect with strangers.

Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth?

                                               Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth? I keep reading on an artists group pages again and again the same old question, “ I cannot sell my art for what it is really worth?” This is always a question raging in the art world, sort of the never ending question. Every artist has an opinion about this and it sometimes sounds like whining and of coarse they do not want to hear any opinions that differ from the fact, that their art is worth far more than they can sell it for. Your weakest skill, sets the height of your success. If you don't know your best skill, you had better find out your weakest skill, because its the weakest skill that holds you back. As Artists we so often coast along depending on our strongest skills to get us through, never realising that it is the weakest skills that hurt us the most. Now I have learned what not to do, because as an Artist I never did this but after years in Galleries I wish I had, it was a weak skill that determined the height of my success.
