Selling #4 Friends and Family?



Family they are yours, so you must do what is best for the harmony of your family.
Friends, full price is good or trade something for equal value that you need.
This can open up all sorts of possibilities with other businesses in your area especially if they love Art, be creative.
Exposure is worth something if the bank will accept it, otherwise it is worth nothing.
Term payment is good, just make sure you keep the painting until it is fully paid for.
Take a deposit of 25% to 50% and no longer than 6 months to pay, do not give the painting to the customer until it is fully paid because it could end in tears.
It’s not that I am saying people are dishonest but many are forgetful.
Do not lose sight of your principal mission and that is to create the Art you want to create and to sell it at a profit so you can live the lifestyle that you have chosen to live.
Always be learning more about your Art, your business and yourself, if you get better then your whole world gets better.

Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth?

                                               Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth? I keep reading on an artists group pages again and again the same old question, “ I cannot sell my art for what it is really worth?” This is always a question raging in the art world, sort of the never ending question. Every artist has an opinion about this and it sometimes sounds like whining and of coarse they do not want to hear any opinions that differ from the fact, that their art is worth far more than they can sell it for. Your weakest skill, sets the height of your success. If you don't know your best skill, you had better find out your weakest skill, because its the weakest skill that holds you back. As Artists we so often coast along depending on our strongest skills to get us through, never realising that it is the weakest skills that hurt us the most.
