Short term pain.



To follow your Artistic dreams and be a successful Artist besides creating your Art, the most important skill you can learn is how to sell your art.
Yes many Artists believe that it is the responsibility of the Galleries to sell their Art, but there are not enough Galleries to serve all Artists so you must sell your Art.
So you must be prepared to suffer through the pain of no sales until you learn to sell or give up.
You must prepare to sacrifice your time to learn the skill of selling.
You must deal with the “thief” and self doubt as well as the critics and the haters.
The good news is once you learn to sell your own Art and you start selling, you get to keep all the money and you will be a successful selling Artist.
Wow, that would make all the pain of learning the new skill of selling worthwhile.
Short term pain for long term rewards.

Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth?

                                               Why don't people want to pay what my art is worth? I keep reading on an artists group pages again and again the same old question, “ I cannot sell my art for what it is really worth?” This is always a question raging in the art world, sort of the never ending question. Every artist has an opinion about this and it sometimes sounds like whining and of coarse they do not want to hear any opinions that differ from the fact, that their art is worth far more than they can sell it for. Your weakest skill, sets the height of your success. If you don't know your best skill, you had better find out your weakest skill, because its the weakest skill that holds you back. As Artists we so often coast along depending on our strongest skills to get us through, never realising that it is the weakest skills that hurt us the most. Now I have learned what not to do, because as an Artist I never did this but after years in Galleries I wish I had, it was a weak skill that determined the height of my success. Question, “From your last exhibition or showing, what was the worst part?” Now you cannot criticise anyone or anything, this is all about you.
