The customer is not always right?

When selling keep the customer talking, especially about themselves, it is usually their favourite subject.
When asked, story tell the painting.
Be very friendly and polite.
Always be leaving.
This is the hardest thing to do but you need to learn to do it.
Do not be needy or desperate, there is always another sale so no need to discount or do free add ons, like sketches.
If the customer wants a discount steer them towards your lower price points.
Discounting is a slippery slope that is a race to the bottom as the customer will boast about the discount and others will expect the same.
Some customers you do not need, if they do not see the value in your work and want it discounted, just smile and say, “no” it’s not for them.
I have watched Artists who are so desperate discount their work only to regret it later, this business is hard enough without working against yourself.
Give good value to your customers and they will support you.
So always be leaving the sale, that is my attitude, I refuse to be desperate for the sale, I refuse to argue or defend my decision, the seller can leave the sale just like the customer can.
Life has taught me there will always be another day and another sale, so be gentle on yourself some customers you don’t need.
